Have your Instagram reach and impressions dropped? Do you feel like you haven't really been doing anything different, but all of a sudden you are just not getting any reach and impressions aka not reaching new people on Instagram and your engagement rate has dropped? Well, there might be many reasons behind it and in this blog post we'll be figuring out how to properly analyze and understand your insights which will help you to brainstorm the ways to increase Instagram reach and impressions and step up your Instagram game...let's dive in..
First you need to start analyzing where does your traffic come from. Analyzing where your traffic comes from will help you to understand which part of your strategy needs improvement. Now let's audit 2 accounts and their content strategies.

In this case we can see that:
1. Reach was pretty good when we compare follower amount to the amount of reached accounts and especially reaching new accounts (86% of the reach were NEW ACCOUNTS!!)
2. Most of the new accounts came from hashtags which means this post was able to reach new accounts through using a proper hashtag strategy. Reaching new people and them actually following and engaging with the post depends completely on
a). picture shown in that hashtag and how it is related to that hashtag (picture optimization)
b). caption of that post and how relevant and engaging it is plus if there is a CTA (call to action)
c) the profile (that is if that person clicked on the profile after seeing that post in a certain hashtag = profile optimization)
So OPTIMIZATION of the above mentioned would actually get that new account that found this post click on the post and engage and click on the profile and follow.

3. This post didn't get much conversions from hashtags, because it wasn't fully optimized
4. Impressions from home were under 2,000, that is really low compared to the follower amount. This means that most of the followers on this account are wrong type of followers that are not interested in this niche and this account needs more genuine followers and target the right audience.

In this case we can see that:
1. Most of the impressions come from home (3,685 impressions compared to the follower amount is pretty good!). This means that this account has targeted its audience and the followers are really interested in this niche and content. Looks like audience is also pretty engaging.
2. From all the reached accounts only 8% was new profiles and 4 of those new accounts followed. This 8% is most likely from explore and 4 of those followed this account after seeing the post.
3. Compared to the previous Account #1 audit where that post reached 86% of new accounts from the whole reach amount, this post from Account #2 didn't perform as well which is due to improper hashtag strategy, so hashtag strategy definitely needs improvement to reach new people and get more followers and engagement.
Now after analyzing and understanding your post insights it is time to create a killer strategy that will increase your Instagram reach and impressions in 2021 to:
1. Reach more new profiles;
2. Get more engagement on your posts;
3. Get more genuine followers and
4. Generate more leads and sales.
Using Instagram stories is a great way to increase reach and home impressions on your feed posts and other content like IGTV and Reels.
When Instagram sees that people are viewing your stories and engaging with them Instagram will push your other content (like feed posts, reels and IGTV) to those followers because Instagram thinks that they are enjoying your content (=interaction) and you two have a relationship.
How to make Instagram stories more engaging then? Use Instagram story strategy called KCR. K stands for Key Takeaway, C stands for Call to Action and R stands for Relatability.

Other tips are including polls, questions and posting "Ask me" on your stories for you to get better to know your audience and for your audience to get better to know you.
It is important to step up your Instagram hashtag game to reach new people and expand your follower group.

WHY INSTAGRAM HASHTAGS NOT WORKING?
Main rules how make sure you optimize your hashtags:
1. Make sure you use hashtags between 10K-500K depending on your follower amount and engagement. Don't use too small hashtags (you won't be discovered by many new people) or too saturated hashtags (you won't be discovered at all, because your post will be lost in the sea of content). You don't want to waste a hashtag (=opportunity to be discovered by new accounts) so be smart about it.
2. Use niche related hashtags and optimize them. Make sure you use proper keywords and optimize your post to be found by more people in certain hashtags and get more followers. Learn more how to optimize your Instagram account and content by downloading my Free Instagram SEO Guide
3. Research your hashtags and don't use banned hashtags. Instagram is banning hashtags all the time, so you have to be careful that you don't use banned hashtags. Make sure that you research your hashtags before posting and after, to see if you showed up in any of those hashtags. If you showed up in some of the hashtags write them down and use more of those hashtags to get a better reach.
4. If you are posting every day on Instagram make sure to research beforehand at least 400 new niche related hashtags for each month to expand your follower pool and reach new people. Create hashtag groups and rotate them. Don't use same hashtags in every post.
Home impressions are important because these impressions come from your followers. So for you to get more home impressions you need to make sure that you:
